Lamium Purpureum, also known as Purple Deadnettle, is a flowering plant native to Europe, North Africa, and Asia. It is a perennial herb with an interesting flower structure that grows in full sun to partial shade. The leaves are a deep purple, oval-shaped, and have a serrated edge. The flowers are a purple-pink and have a hood-shaped lip and a long nectar spur.

The deadnettle is valued for its medicinal properties and is used to treat bronchial and urinary infections, as well as digestive and menstrual disorders. It can also act as an expectorant, diuretic, anti-inflammatory, and mild sedative.

The seeds of the deadnettle are also harvested and used. They are a rich source of minerals, including magnesium, potassium, and calcium. The seeds are often used in herbal teas or sprinkled on salads and other dishes.

Lamium Purpureum can be propagated by division or by seed. The plant prefers moist, well-drained soil and can tolerate drought once established. When grown in the right conditions, it can spread quickly, forming a mat-like cover in the garden.

The deadnettle is a great addition to a garden for its attractive foliage and flowers. It is a low-maintenance plant and is great for attracting pollinators such as bees and butterflies. It is also a valuable medicinal plant, with a wide range of health benefits.
