Duranta is a genus of flowering plants in the Verbena family, native to the Americas, Africa and some parts of Asia. It is an evergreen shrub or small tree, often reaching a height of 3-4 meters, with a spread of up to 6 meters. The foliage is usually glossy and deep green in color. The flowers are small and clustered in white, blue, or lavender clusters. The fruits are small, dark purple berries.

Duranta is widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions, as it is very tolerant of drought and frost. It is often planted as a decorative hedge or as an ornamental tree. It is also used in landscaping and as a windbreak. Duranta is also a popular choice for bonsai, as its small leaves and delicate flowers make it a suitable choice for the art.

Duranta's most popular product is its seeds, which can be used in a variety of ways. The dried seeds are often roasted and used as a coffee-like beverage. The seeds can also be ground into a powder and used as a seasoning or as a thickener in soups. The seeds are also used to make a variety of traditional medicines, including tea and honey.

Duranta is also grown for its wood, which is used for furniture and other craft projects. The wood is also used for making paper and for charcoal production. The leaves can be harvested and used in salads, soups, and stews. The flowers can be used in salads, tea, and as decorations.

Duranta is a fast-growing, easy-to-maintain plant that is often used for ornamental purposes. Its attractive flowers, colorful berries, and fragrant wood make it a popular choice for home gardens and landscaping. Duranta is also a great choice for bonsai, as it is well-suited to the art of creating miniature trees.
