Aster is a genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae. It contains around 180 species, mostly native to Europe, Asia, and North America. Asters typically have daisy-like flowers with a central yellow disk and a surrounding ring of petals. They are mainly grown for their ornamental value, with many varieties available in different colors and sizes.

The seeds of asters are tiny and black or dark brown. They are borne on a fuzzy, white or grey pappus, which aids in wind dispersal. The seeds are edible and can be used as a nutty topping for salads or as an ingredient in baking. They are also high in protein and fiber and contain essential vitamins and minerals.

Asters are easy to care for and make a great addition to any garden. They prefer well-drained soil in full sun and can tolerate a wide range of temperatures. They can be propagated from seed or through division in the spring. Asters are also known to attract pollinators, such as butterflies and bees, and can be used to create a colorful and vibrant landscape.

Asters are drought tolerant and relatively pest and disease free. They can be pruned in the spring to encourage new growth and to keep them looking tidy. Asters are also deer and rabbit resistant and make a great addition to any garden.

Asters are a beautiful and vibrant flower that can add life and color to any garden. They have a long flowering period and are easy to care for, making them a great choice for novice and experienced gardeners alike. For those looking for a low-maintenance flower that can provide a stunning display of color and texture, asters are the perfect choice.
